All Fontodi wines are produced from grapes coming from their own vineyards, picked by hand, chosen with care and vinified in a way that exalts the character of the vines and the territory.

James Suckling

This is a solid Chainti Classico, with beautiful plum, berry and milk chocolate aromas and flavors. Full body, with soft and velvety tannins and a long juicy finish. Really excellent. Fontodi is one of the stars of the region. Made from organic grapes. Drink now.

Score: 93. August 17, 2011.

Wine Spectator

This has grip and fine Sangiovese character, evoking bitter cherry, tobacco, leather and spice flavors. A harmonious wine, lingering with an aftertaste of tobacco and mineral. Best from 2013 through 2020. 10,000 cases made.

Score: 90. —Bruce Sanderson, December 31, 2011.

Wine Advocate

The 2008 Chianti Classico is very elegant and restrained in this vintage. Sweet red cherries, flowers, tobacco and incense float on a core of bright, persistent minerality. This is a rather Burgundian styled vintage for the Chianti Classico. Readers who may have found the 2006 and 2007 too rich will flip over the 2008. It is a model of precision and elegance. Menthol, spices and a host of balsamic aromas and flavors add complexity on the delineated, precise finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020.

Score: 89. —Antonio Galloni, August 2011.
