Our goal with Boyanci in each vintage is to express the height of Napa Valley fruit and extraction with a Bordeaux-like elegance. The 2007 Boyanci shows wonderful aromas of ripe fruit, including boysenberry and blackberry as well as undercurrents of jasmine tea, white pepper and toasted hazelnut. In the mouth the wine exhibits flavors of bruléed vanilla and imparts a mouth-coating, velvety texture. The tannins are fine and integrated and the finish is long and balanced. The 2007 Boyanci is ready to drink now but will continue to mature and improve for 15+ years.

Wine Enthusiast

The blend is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, with Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The grape sourcing is pedigreed, from Stagecoach Vineyard on Atlas Peak and the adjacent Pritchard Hill. The wine is dry and very tannic, yet strangely sweet. The cherry and raspberry flavors have a pie-filling richness, but also an acidic tug. New oak shows up in the form of vanilla and crème brûlée. Hard to tell where it's going.

Wine Spectator

This concentrated red delivers tight tannins wrapped around a mix of savory herb, dried currant, cedar, mineral and sage. This is slow to unfold, yet offers depth and layers of flavor. Best to cellar. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2012 through 2022. 225 cases made.
