"Mind-blowing aromas of crushed berries, meat, blackberry and violet. Full-bodied, with layers of incredibly velvety tannins and a long, long finish. This is so complex and long, and the mouthfeel is spellbinding. Develops wonderfully in the glass, becoming more and more rich with air. One of the greatest Brunellos I have ever tasted. "2006 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino Madonna del Piano: Even though this will not be on the market until March, it shows such amazing structure of firm tannins that are super polished and rich. Itʼs full bodied with an incredible richness, intensity and energy. Thereʼs such purity and precision to this wine. What great power and balance. I love the character of dark fruits, wet earth and porcini mushrooms. Perfect clarity to this wine. How can Brunello be better than this?"

Impenetrable density and extraction. Almost syrupy. Black fruit, spice, blackberry preserves, licorice, asphalt, ground black pepper, cherry liqueur and crème de cassis. No limits to the intensity and complexity here. Dark, plush, firmly structure and very, very long. Keep this baby safely in your cellar 20 years or more.

I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
